The Quilter
Kim Robichaud is the founder of Girasole Designs and creates each quilt from start to finish. She received her B.A. in Computer Science and Italian from Middlebury College in 2002 and has since returned to Maine. She teaches, quilts, and lives in the Bangor area with her husband and two children.
MaterialsA passion for the environment and love of textiles fuels the use of vintage and recycled remnants, along with new and hand-dyed cloth. Batting and thread is 100% cotton, excluding decorative threads. All materials are sourced locally whenever possible.
ConstructionQuilts are machine-pieced and quilted and the bindings are finished by hand.
CreditsKim owes her quilting knowledge to the patient tutelage offered by many kind friends, family members, talented teachers and artists. She is honored to have been the recipient of a technical assistantship at Haystack Mountain School of Craft in Deer Isle, ME (2009) and thanks the staff and students for many inspiring hours.
